Review: Before I go into detail, I love this watch. Packaging was good, they even give you a warranty on the watch - I think for 2 years if im not mistaken? All in all 100% genuine G-Shock. However, you do need to charge it in the sun, as mine came at about medium battery. Okay so. I went through a bit of a phase sometime back, and I got myself a garmin watch. And I have to say, I started to miss my G-shock like crazy. I didn't like the idea of messages coming through on my watch, and my phone can tell me my heart rate, foot steps etc anyway. So I didn't see much of a point in having to charge something every night for something that tells me the time... I've worn G shocks for about 10 years now, and I absolutely love them. However, I always had to get a new one because the resin straps eventually give out. This time around I decided to get a nylon strap along with this G. My first ever g-shock lasted about 6 years before the battery died. I tried to replace the battery, but after a swim the seal was no longer good, due to me taking the back off and fiddling with the battery. I thought a solar option + an extra strap would give me more time. I think my plan is practically fool proof. This Gw7900 is slightly smaller than my previous GShock( pictures shown). However I prefer this, as the other one was slightly too bulky. Both have negative displays, which I don't really mind. It doesn't bother me as much as other reviewers. I saw another option on amazon for the same watch but without negative display - but I saw quite a few negative reviews ( which means it's not a genuine G-shock haha) and for those who know G-shock, these bad boys take some time before they break(if they ever do). so I decided to go with this one. I'm pretty much use to it because of my last one - so again I'm not fussy with the neg display. I went to YouTube to find out how to operate the watch manually, and everything is very straight forward.( If you type in the watch, its like the first video and theres a guy that goes into detail about it for like an hour) I'm outside of the multi band 6 radio towers, so if you're in any of those countries (UK, US, Germany, just to name a few) then it is VERY straight forward. The watch practically does everything for you -Tide, moon, time, etc etc. But like I said, I had to do all of that manually, and it wasn't actually that difficult or time consuming. If you're like me and you like old school, with just a little razzle dazzle, than this is the watch for you. Most importantly it tells the time, but just know that G-shocks do the milage for the amount you pay. I also live in Africa, where everything to do with life is rugged. These watches have proven themselves to me over the years, and I doubt I'll ever change. Hope this helped

Review: I have always liked gshocks for being innovative and tough. I've owned a stainless steel cockpit series for the best part of 20 years and it's still going strong. I've also had 5610 and 5600 squares in the past but never got on with the fitting of those. This however is one of the most comfortable watches I've worn and is smaller than suggested in a lot of reviews, I have a 7.5 inch wrist and it wears perfectly. I had also already bought a gaw-100b and was going to get the positive display version of this watch as a comparison. Unfortunately the price went back up so got this version instead. I was a bit dubious of the negative display having previously tried a black 5600 but once you get used to the idea of having the auto illumination turned on its not really a problem. Like the gaw 100 it has solar and atomic time but has the classic gshock rugged styling. Living near the sea the tide graph will come in handy and the moon phase is a cool feature. Not sure how the fake screws will hold up but I'm not going into a warzone so hopefully it will be fine. Some talk of fakes in these comments but the one I got is 100% genuine with all papers and in the original tin packaging. Now I have both the gaw 100 and this I can't decide which to keep. Two different styles with similar functions and both excellent value for money. I may just end up keeping both. Update 27th October. After wearing this out and about for a day it quickly became apparent the display is seriously compromised. I've sent it back and now have the positive version.
