Description: Luminox Atacama Field Automatic 1900 Series Watch XL.1903 The Case: This Luminox Atacama Field Automatic Blue 1900 Series XL.1903 features a 44mm case that is made out of brushed stainless steel, which provides the watch with an elegantly rugged look. The case takes on a classic design and it is made up of a circular fixed bezel, a large screw down crown at 3 o'clock and short tapered lugs. Ultra-scratch resistant sapphire crystal provides the watch with optimum protection. It has been treated to an anti-reflective coating, which ensures that the dial always remains readable. The Dial: The dial is presented in a sunburst blue tone and it has a classic military aesthetic which is displayed through the 24-hour time format. The 12-hour scale is presented through silver baton style hour markers which form the outer dial, whilst the 24-hour scale is presented through small orange Arabic numerals which form the inner dial. The dial also has a two step design, with the inner dial housing the silver pencil style handset, which features LLT (Luminox Light Technology) which are tritium tubes which light up the dial in the dark. The second hand is stylised in a bright orange. Also present in the inner dial is a day-date display window at 3 o'clock and the Luminox shield logo at 12 o'clock. On the dial's chapter ring there is a 60-minute scale. The Strap: The strap is presented in a NATO style and it is made out of nylon. It is stylised in a striking blue tone, which complements the dial. It fastens through the use of a standard buckle. The Functions: This timepiece is powered by automatic Sellita caliber SW220-1 movement which provides the watch with an accuracy of -10/+30 seconds per day and a power reserve life of 32 hours. Review: I knew before purchasing that this watch was on the larger side at 44mm. I currently wear a 42 mm watch and it fits fine, so I thought the extra 1 mmm on either side would be fine, and on the whole it was. The thing I didn't realize until holding it to my wrist though was how absolutely, ridiculously thick this thing is. Combined with the large case, the thickness makes it look almost comical even on a larger wrist. The other issue is that the lugs don't taper much, so the band is stupidly wide, almost as wide as some dress belts I've seen. I understand that the watch might need to be a little thicker to accommodate the tritium tubes, but they went way further than necessary. I wish they made a 42 mm version of this witch a much slimmer case. If you're OK with the size and thickness then this is a beautiful watch and appears well made and the lume is really nice. Personally, it was too much for me and I returned it and am getting a Hamilton Khaki 42 mm instead.

Review: I purchased this watch believing it was brand new. Not long after I had been wearing it the winding mechanism became very gritty and difficult to wind. I checked with Luminox because the watch should have been under warranty but was told that the warranty was void because I did not purchase it from an authorized retailer. So I took the watch to a local certified watchmaker and had him look at it. He opened it up and immediately said the watch had been worked on before, and whomever had performed the work messed up the dual clutch in the winding mechanism and had also improperly installed the clicker, causing it to break and resulting in the stem not engaging the clicker properly. So I’m left with nearly $800 in junk. DO NOT BIY FROM THIS SELLER!
